Following an early morning hot breakfast, we depart to explore the beauty of Kigali city that offers a number of activities such as Genocide Memorial, cultural craft centers, Kandt National Museum etc. On this we shall choose which sites to visit as we shall be departing for Akagera national park in the afternoon lunch in the city.
Akagera National Park is located in eastern part of Rwanda taking about +/- 2 hours arriving late afternoon for check-in at your lodge. You can have short stopovers for photos en route to Akagera park a place of beautiful landscape.

As we rise up early following breakfast. We depart to explore the greatness of Akagera national park on a game drive in search of big mammals like Elephants, Giraffes, Buffaloes, several Antelope species and recently the re-introduced Lions. Akagera game drives normally happen in the northern part of the park where we shall spend the better part of the day and return to the lodge later afternoon.
Akagera national park is the biggest in Rwanda with beautiful scenery and landscape. It has varied habitats for wildlife and a birders haven with over 500 species.
There are also opportunities to explore the park by taking a nature walk, this can be incorporated on request especially in the afternoon. You also have opportunities of a boat safari on Lake Ihema to watch Hippos and crocodiles in the water or by the shores.

After a good restful night, have early morning breakfast as your whole day will be tied up on meeting enormous mountain gorillas in the lush and dense jungles of the Virunga ranges – precisely the volcanoes national park.
Your driver guide will transfer to the headquarters for short briefing on dos and don’ts while tracking Gorillas and how to behave in the park, divide you into different Gorilla groups. You will enjoy the Rwandan cultural dance as you do wait for the ranger to brief you. After a briefing at the visitors Center – you embark on the trek that will eventually bring you an awesome close of gorillas in their natural habitat.
Gorilla trekking can last from an hour to several hours depending on where they nested the previous night, meaning that you need to be relatively fit to enjoy this experience. Once they are tracked then you will only be allowed one hour to view them as you prepare for the next activity at Iby’iwacu cultural village for a taste of the Rwandan culture.

Following an early morning breakfast, we relieve the great wildlife safari experience in Akagera national park as we transfer to volcanoes national park where the enormous gentles giants “mountain Gorillas” inhabit. Volcanoes national park is located in northern part of Rwanda about +/-2 hours from Kigali in Kinigi, Musanze.
As you traverse through Kigali city, you will enjoy several villages with great landscape views. Stopover will be made for picture/photo moments at different viewpoints. You will see the endless hills and understand why indeed Rwanda is referred to as ‘the land of a thousand hills. We will arrive to the lodge later that evening ready for the gorilla hike the next day.

Following an early morning breakfast, we depart to Kigali for your return flight or hotel. If your flight is later in the evening or night then we opt to go golden monkey trekking, hike one of the virungas, visit Dian Fossey’s tomb and learn more about her conservation work.
